Ever feel like quitting?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I really felt like quitting about 2 years ago. I was really big into the hobby, had a fishroom arrangement in my garage, had a few tanks stuck everywhere really. Breeding discus, oscars, bettas, corydoras, angelfish....had an absolutly beautiful 125G reef tank that was flourishing. Had a big mean as **** male motoro ray...about to buy a leo ray to go with him. A winter power outage that lasted for about 4 days in sub zero weather claimed about 90% of my tanks. Reef was completely dead, as were my rays discus...oscars etc. The only fish I had survive were a pair of tinfoil barbs, my pair of butterfish, and a couple of baby red bellied piranhas and maybe a couple of bettas. I broke down and have put in storage/or sold about 30 tanks. I like my new collection of easier to tend tanks which are more for "show" than anything....its not a burdon that could crash at anytime anymore :)

wow... thats such a great loss.... I wouldnt know how to rebuild myself up from there after losing and wasting the fish and money..

I really neglected the fish that remained admittedly, it was a depressing thing. Luckily I sold alot of my practically new reef equipment to a LFS here to recover some of my losses. I was getting to a point in my life(work and school) that was about to prevent me from running 30+tanks so nature did my picking and choosing for me so to say. Thus the tanks I have now are a bit more low key, and I probably wont be buying any really exotics in the near future either. Ive sort of reverted my ways of fishkeeping onto a more hobby scale than one of profit as it once was, I actually enjoy it a bit more like this :)

I occasionally feel the same way.

I need to try something different.

I could never quit..i have too much to learn yet.. and you can never know enough..

I just tried to quit (only for a short time) and couldn't do it.

I got down to my last tank and just couldn't sell it. that was like last week and since then I have purchased to more tanks.

I did sell all my fish and am going to try all new fish I've never kept so I'm siked about that!!!
