Ever feel odd about fish????

I really don't have any issues when I talk about fish with friends or people I meet at work. I usually don't bring it up until you get that question "so, what is your hobbies?" and then it begins with I have a few tanks and then next "what is your largest?" This is where I say 220 gallon and it's to small and then you get the eye out of eyeball socket look or the "that's bigger than my bathtub" response. After 30 years of fish keeping you just get use to it and go with the flow of comments, however for the most part most are intrigued by it and ask questions. It's a hobby for me and I usually just tell others it's like their dog/cat/bird or whatever and I probably put in just as much money if not more.

As one other member said, I just ignore it if they don't like it because they aren't the ones doing it, I am so it doesn't really matter what they think

Not really it is a way of life. Some kids in my class like fish. But one of them overstocks there tanks. he has a Bp and some other fish in a 10 gallon tank. I might have to get a other tank to rescue his Bp. When i email them directions to cycle as tank they think i am crazy!!!! I love my fish!!!!

I usually get WOW. And then when they see my tank, I get WOW. Except they are staring at the tank instead of me. I get allot of enjoyment out of watching peoples reactions.

I have found that people respond best to shiny objects. That's why when ever I talk about my fish or my tanks i bring up the pics of them on my phone. Most people show off pics of their kids. I show off pics of my fish. Same difference right?

i'm not just a fish enthusiast i'm a pet enthusiast! i have 2 dogs, a budgie a lizard 9 goldfish 1 oscar, and thinking of getting an axolotl.

When I tell my friends about my fish they laugh because when they think of fish they see goldfish which I have in a 10 gallon tank, but then I tell them I have a catfish and knife fish and cichlids and they look at me like I'm dumb. It doesnt bother me because we all have out hobbies and mine happens to be animals. I have a hamster 2 skirt tetras 6 goldfish 1 clown knife 1 catfish and a jack Dempsey.
