Ever heard of goldfish shows???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Never been to one. I have never really been into goldfish, but recently found out how personable they can be in person. Some look cool. Obviously I've always liked koi, cool finage and colors. I've seen some gold fish with some of those traits too.

What kind of goldfish were you into back in the day.....so to speak? Did you have a big tank of them or a pond?
Sounds like the shows are kind of cut throat.
Fancy goldfish I had this huge red and white fantail that was about 8 inches long without including the tail I was also growing out a juvie oranda and a juvie black moor the tank was around 50 gallons but then the fish died last year and so i sold the tank and now the only tank i have is some crappy 30 gallon its not even a breeder lol

How did you enter a virtual one I’ll like to do that it sounds fun!!!

It’s through the WWKC. You take pictures of your koi or goldies in the fall and enter the pictures in December.
Ive only entered once. I like the virtual shows because it’s less stress on the fish. I take mine out to measure and photograph anyway so why not enter them in a competition too?

I don't pay attention to goldfish show just because it's not my interest fish species, but I did go to Arrowana Show in Singapore and Indonesia and Koi Fish Show in Japan...I just enjoy the show and "WOW" all the time, each fish cost an arm and a leg! Some even cost more than your soul to bid hahahaha!

They get mentioned in PFK magazine and on their website a fair bit, the websites pretty crap these days though.
Yeh, I need to sign up for that magazine, but the websites make me?. To be fair, I haven't looked for any conventions and only been in the hobby (properly) for a year or so. Gotta look after the pandemic.

The magazine can be good depending what stories are in it that month, it's hard to find here and very expensive so I rarely buy it unless there's something I'm really interested in. The website used to be great but then they updated it into the mess it is now.
I always had the impression the UK had a big aquarium scene. I lived there for a few years and was very impressed with the range of species you can buy compared to here.

Amazonas is probably the best running publication, hosted from Germany. Must resubscribe actually.
