Drive to Gympie, which is a closest city of where the Traveston Dam is to be built and there are signs every 50m of highway opposing this, as well as many local community petitions I'm sure, none of which are having any influence.
What's idiotic is that you're sitting at your PC on the other side of the country pretending to give a crap. Want to make a difference? No you don't, nevermind.

The main concern to be found with this is the Mary River Turtle. Experts, people who live day to day researching turtles are saying that with this dam will be the immenent extinction of this animal. So who am I going to believe, you or an EXPERT?
Of course the lungfish and the Mary river cod can be bred in captivity. But if everyone took a narrow minded view like yourselves then why don't we just destroy the amazon, the Great Barrier Reef, EVERYTHING that sustains life,who cares, we can breed them in captivity. Animals don't need a home...right?
This dam is a easy and extremly late way out for the Government.

But thats the thing, the petition is not pointless. It will be used to fight against the dam being built. It is a small piece of the puzzle, but important still. You are taking a very immature approach to this to be totally honest.
