do not go for a rtc , it will out grow the reds and eat them within time , rtc grow much faster than micros , many people have tried it and many people have lost there reds .
to be honest i would put another couple of reds in there , before you know it they will make the new tank look small , dont look at it as a big tank being a waiste of extra space , look at it as you are providing the best accomadation you can for you chasen species = micros ,you can give them the room they deserve to swim about in and set the tank up in a great way for them with plants (most other fish will eat theese) and floating cover ,places to hide ect , a very large tank aquascaped correctly that houses a couple of micros is a sight to behold.
also the more more you put in there the less comfortable the micros will be , eventually they will become hyper aggresive and kill all the tankmates anyway , if you must put another species in there buy them cheep as tank fillers with the understanding that you will eventualy loose them ,but please try and stay away from rtc tsn pacu alligator gars rays ect. they are all fish that deserve there own setups dedicated to there needs
just trying to save you some hard earned cash ,and make your mirco tank a unique thing of beuty rarther than just a collection of fish , belive me i have tried every way of keeping fish and when you have a correctly setup micro tank with a couple of two footers in there ,you will be glad you did it the right way

here are a couple of quick shots of mine , will look much better once the smaller plants have rooted and start to grow , also when moss grows over the rocks ect, to give you a sence of scale the auranti in the top pic is arround 11-12"

thats a question only the fish themselves can answer , i have put marulia in with them before and was ok , i did the same thing some years latter and the maurlia nearlly killed the reds , i have also had luck with bigger pleuros and reds and marulioides with reds , but i have also had to remove a lot of fish because of fighting
mixing large snakeheads is allways a risky buisness , luckly at the size yours are there is a chance of it working (for a while at least) but as they grow larger who knows . there is no definate answer to this one , also some reds are quite peacefull and some start to go nuts as they mature so depends on the fish . if your going to do it i would ask the lfs ,if they start fighting can you return it . remember the final size of your reds also, this makes your choice very small as they will out grow most snakeheads . your best chance would be in order ,in my opinion anyway
1 slighly larger micros
2 2-3 inches larger marulioides
3 3-4 inch larger pleuros
4 approx same size or very slightly smaller marulia
i think any of the above will be fine for a time , its just what happens as they get bigger
