My 180 gallon is so overstocked that I can't keep it clean - but I do perform weekly water changes on all of my tanks and don't notice any issues in tanks with normal stocking, such as my 120 gallon.

what do you do if you get too many beetles? can the fish eat them? also post some pics-always like to see what setups look like :)

Fish can eat the beatles, they're the same as the mealworms really, just crunchy.

You really won't get too many, not all mealworms make it through the larval stage and pupate into beatles - and even then the beatles turn into cannibals, so you'll constantly have dead ones on your hands in the morning.

I just leave them in, and they eventually turn to mulch for the mealworms to eat again :)

Well, I agree that it is a good food, but don't overdo it with the worms because of the fat content.

As to the Roaches, well, I still pick some up after 2 years of a fallen box full of them...imagine my wife.......

Haha, my wife is terrified of the roaches so I keep them outdoors in a 20 gallon long full of cat food.

The mealworms are pretty slow, can't climb - so long as you're careful about how you set up your culture they won't get out.

Do the adults fly? And do they ever escape?

any concerns with them digging thru the stomachs?

That's just a myth.
