Exodon as solo fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i see, well u can always try man, exodons are not expensive..and small tanks arent either. It will be a fun venture :)
True, exodons are a great fish. but they do grow 3-4 inches and with a pack of 8, a 20 Gal long would be too small... i would say a 40 gallon for 10 exodons :)

I think a 4 foot tank would be needed long term. It gives enough space for everyone to get away and enough volume for a good sized shoal.

I get ur point bigger is better, but if he only has a 20g now Why spend money for a 40? Exodons don‘t grow that fast. Friend has them for 2 years and only a few of them are 3”.. haven’t seen 4” ones although thats what most guides say. if he’s keeping them in a 20g then just get 6-8... Then upgrade if he really gets like them. nowadays a lot people don’t keep fish forever. So he might not even like them after a year And want something else lol.

Yeah well, some people in this hobby just get fish for their enjoyment, and they don't think about how much stress can occur to the fish themselves when changing their environment. Its like you wana own a Parachromis dovii and when he gets to 6 inches and out grows my 10 gallon you'll move him on. WHO DOES THTA????

A lot of people do. Sadly, thats the reality. Or they want another fish or just realized keeping fish is tedious if u really keep up with maintenance. So many fish being sold/rehomed all the time..

I buy fish that will get too big for me sometimes, my granulosus catfish for example, but I have lot friends and connections in the hobby, so finding a good home isn’t difficult
