exodon experiments

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes, they are doing very well so far. I'm feeding them tiny amounts throughout the day.

If they bite in the right (or wrong) place... I think they can. I thought they're a little skittish because they look like they're fleeing away from the pics. Silly me. :D

Best regards.

Daniel.

oh no, you're absolutely right, they were skittish. im looking at them now, they are right in the middle doing their thing.

Yeah, small crazy moving fish are VERY hard to photograph! Thank goodness for the internet for doing research. When I had my exodons it was before the internet age and no one had a computer including me. Had to rely on books, instinct and LFS people for info, i.e.The reason for my "BAD EXODON" experience :(

I am considering getting a school- a local LFS got a group with out really knowing what they were ordering- I showed up as the group of exodons were finishing off the blue rams they put in the same tank- they are now begging me to take the lot of them- the probelm is the only tank I could possibly put them in is my 55g that has my 2-3" juvi SA/CA cichlids.... decisions...

a 50 gal. breeder or a 55 would be perfect for them. please get them, they are unbelievable animals.

I like em' alot too regardless of my bad first experience with them. No photo on earth could do them justice IMO. Healthy adults look amazing when they're colored up and bloodworm feedings supercharge the color even more.
Love that nuclear irridescent yellow.

I keep a good size school with 7 4 inch clown loaches, a regular pleco, and a few cory cats with no problems.

You will have issues with any scaled fish that occupies their same swimming area(mid tank). I would assume that hatchet fish may get taken out rather quickly. Exodon from my experience will pick every scale from a fish and terrorize it to the extent that they become weak and die.

i have a 30 gal. tank. would a pair of clown loaches or even cory cats sift through my substrate (eco complete, which is like sand) and still survive the exodons? I have 2 pieces of driftwood as you can see and even more plants on the way. can anybody hook me up with malaysian trumpet snails?
