How many of these little bastards can I keep in a 29g aquarium. Tank set up is as follows, 29g 30" x 12.5" x 18", Eheim 2213 canister filter, Maxi-Jet 600 Powerhead, Marineland Stealth Heater "newer LED display model", Flourite black sand substrate and some driftwood. I was thinking 12 of them and they would be the only fish in the tank, what do you guys think? any input is appreciated. A lot of places say they need to be crowded together, while others say the exact opposite. I will most likely base my final decision on the trusted opinions of MFK.

Exodons, great mini monsters. 12 in your set up, no problem, I be tempted to add a HOB filter and go 24 exodons, imo.

If it's not over crowding, then I will consider it. What HOB should I go for though?

I would get 12. Their are many HOB's to choose from, the most common is aqua clear. They work good.

Great suggestion, but I don't think I'll need an HOB if I stick with 12 which was my original Idea.

Depends on what look you want. Do you want them to shoal within the tank. Or do you want the tank to be the shoal. Personally I like 6-7 which will make a nice little group that is attractive. Or you can go the 15 plus and have them look like they would in a petstore tank.

I like the idea of a group 6, but I've heard they will single each other out in smaller groups than 10, don't know if it's true just something I read.

I will message "bitteraspects" for some advice.
