well....i started with 20 in the 10g.
then i added more...LOL.
i kept my tanks with only gravel and nothing else.no plants.
and of course...OVERFILTER!

if i tried to over filter the 10 gallon wouldnt the suction from the filters be to much for the fish
not necessarily. that tank was running an ac30, and a DIY wety dry made out of another 10g tank. circulation was great, and the current was fine. when you drop food in the tank, it doesnt get sucked directly into the filter.

it was bare bottom originally, but eventualy i added gravel... then dw... then plants. lol. bare bottom is still the best though
