Exodons in a sort of 20 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I were you, I would just sell the two tens and buy a 29 gallon. A 29 gallon tank would be shorter in length (save space), the same width and taller. I would at least say this would give you a chance to get 8-10 exodons. You'll just have to see how it works. If it doesn't work out, you could always use the tank as a grow out for some smaller fish

Selling and buying just isn't an option right now. That's been covered.

Update:
Reading my last few posts I've realized I've really shot myself in the foot and have probably lost the respect of most people on the characin forum...
That said, ill leave on a good note.
Ill be setting the tank up for some galaxy rasboras and dwarf cories.

Why not breed food for your other monsters, much easier and cooler than nano fish. Just a suggestion.

If you want something that somewhat looks like monster, but doesn't act like monster, peacock gudgeons only get 1.5-2 inches a couple in a ten should be fine, or one in each. They look kind of like lil mini wolf/snakeheads to me

don't beat yourself up ,, you were 'fishing' for an answer and didn't get it... it's ok... some of us old timers are a little rough on the new guys... the best advice I CAN GIVE YOU IS do the 10 right... listen to what these guys are saying without getting your feelings hurt, they WON'T hold a grudge..as long as you don't troll for answers that you want .. rather than real advice... it looks like to me you are an honest .. humble ..new fishkeeper.. stick around and read a lot of threads you'l be a monsterfishkeeper before you know it ... best of luck:)

Stop being emotional.

I took the harsh tone with you because the folks who were telling you gently that your plan would fail weren't getting through to you. You weren't listening to them. For all intents and purposes, you have said that you have a 10 gallon tank and you're not upgrading, no way, no how. If that's the case, you're not ready to get a dynamic species of fish such as an exodon. My intention wasn't to hurt your feelings, it was to get you to listen, and it appears that I may have succeeded.

You haven't lost any respect with me or most of the other people who have been around for a while as long as you follow the advice given and make the right decision for the health and well being of the fish involved. Make the right decision and accept the fact that you're not prepared at this time to move up to dynamic predators. Your only real option at this point, if you really care for the fish, is to stick to very small species. In order to really lose the respect of this community, you'll need to throw us the proverbial middle finger, get a shoal of exodons and put them in the ten anyway. Then in a couple of weeks, you'll come back and tell us how you only have one left. You'll get angry "I told you so's" and I'll have to close the thread. Listen and learn. Everyone has to start somewhere, but unfortunately your starting point isn't suited to be with exodons.

In this thread, you're fishing for an answer you're not going to get. It's best that you embrace the reality of your situation and roll with it.

If you follow the advice that was given, you will completely earn the respect of this community. The decision is up to you.

Very well said, Rob.

You asked for opinions, and we gave you ours. Whether you listen to us or not is up to you. I don't think it was anyone's intention to bash or ridicule you for using a 10 gallon tank, but more to point out that the specific fish you wanted in there wouldn't work.
