I am picking up another six today. what is a good scavanger to go with them?

not much can go with exos.. in fear that the exos might destroy the scavenger if its a type of small pleco or loach. u couldnt fit catfish in that 10, and also crayfish would eat some of your exos at night when they rest on the tank bottom.

Oh, and the question about the AquaClear 50 filter. there really isnt any such thing as too much filtration power, as long as its not SO powerful that it rattles your tank enough to stress the exos, and the AC50 does not, i have this exact filter on my 10g.. the AC50 is also small enough (in size) and with that much power, you would be just fine with even 30 exos in that tank.

and dont throw steak in there. especially not cooked stake. all that fatty oil and seasoning (if its smoked or with garlic/spices etc). will mess up your tank. even raw steak with absolutely nothing on it. id put in a SMALL pinch of steak without any fat on it to see if they would finish it first. most people use beef heart instead. its much better for them. and they arent exactly flesh eaters by nature IE beef and other mammals. they are more insectivores and scale eaters when there are no insects or bugs.

oh i noticed you also said you had a tetra pf 10 AND AC50... you dont really need that pf10. do you have an incandescent light cover or a cfl/fluro cover? cause im wondering how you fit both of those on there. haha

that AC50 really out-does that pf... maybe if u set it up in the right way it would create a whirlpool in your tank... thats media lounge worthy...

again. do not make such comments in your first weekend of owning these fish. you obviously have no clue, and as such, shouldnt be giving poor information to other potential keepers. do your research before opening your mouth, (and not by taking information off of anglefire of all BS websites BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH) it might save you from looking foolish.

OP:
you can keep tankmates with your exodons, as long as theyre in a group. a single specimen will not last very long, but a group will be fine. i keep loaches, and ottos in some of my exodon tanks. i have also kept cories in the past. not only have i done it personally, and still currently keep tankmates with my exodons, but i have spoken to experts in brazil, and with others who have studied this species, and have been told the same thing.

a couple of species of cories, ottos, and tetra are gathered from the same waters as the exodons in the wild (Corydoras cf. julii, C. cf. nanus, Otocinclus cf. affinis, just to name a few), and they live together fine. if you keep them in a small school, your tankmates will not be seen as food. however, i always suggest doing a WC just prior to adding your new tasnkmates. this helps to distract your current fish from the new ones being added.

umm alright pindick, this is near my 1 month mark and your arrogance is just making you look like an *******. you dont think hard enough, clearly. have you thought that me being a newb, i didn't ALREADY TRY doing what this guy is asking about? I infact, put a crayfish in my exo tank to eat the scraps and when i woke up, it had caught one of them. and i said in FEAR of damage. as far as fish mates go, most people wont take the chance and obviously i dont see you punting down every post made about exos being a species only fish. do you actually LOOK at your fish at night? i base my info off of my personal observation with the fish. i HAVE put other creatures in my tank. and to disprove your little theory, i had more swordtails in there at one time than the exodons, and two of them got destroyed. so its not about grouping fish to keep them alive.

sure you got experience with them, and apparently went jeff corwin on us talking to everybody and their mom in brazil about this species, but in the end your just turning out to be bono, are u THAT bitter about me keeping exodons? cause when it comes to how much you seem to want to disprove, discredit, and minuscule me, you just cant seem to shut up.

and about angelfire, are you calling it BS because you know for a fact it is? or just because u know how easy it is to obtain info from there, and you gotta make yourself look like you know more than the person who wrote that article? because i used it?

prove that its BS. if you don't, then anyone can be the Bull****ter here.

Not wanting to stir things up, but it's worth adding.

I have kept Exos in a 40g. I had no issues with other fish other than one species. I had kept them with botia, Otto's, nandus, three baby Pleuro's as well as a number of others. The only problem I had was when I had to add two Baracuda in an emergency. I looked the following day and both were dead and stripped of all scales.

On the feeding front variety is the key. Red meat is not a good idea as fish have difficulty digesting properly. They will pretty much eat any small items including flake. Artificial foods contain lots of nutrients so I would include it in there diet.

wow 3 whole weeks...

like it said. do yourself a favor, and dont give advise. you obviously have no idea what youre talking about, and it makes you look sad. you have no business giving your poor "information" to other people who want facts, because you dont have any.
EVERYTHING, i have stated about this species has been thoroughly studied by more then just myself, unlike your ridiculous theories based on your having owned these fish for only a couple of weeks.
i have no problem with you or anyone keeping these fish, but what i do have a problem with is your constant ignorance, and inability to retain information. you spent what. two weeks asking if they would eat crickets? and being laughed at and ignored for your inability to listen.
seriously... just sit back and listen. maybe once youre able to recieve advise, youll be in a position to give it. but you are nowhere near there now.

welcome back to the ignore list.
