theyre beautiful, im glad i can see something in them, unlike these two above me

Well im glad they are beautiful to you and others, just like I stated to each his own, thats what makes Monsterfishkeepers what it is, the variety of different species of fish people like. I just happen to not find anything special about them, thats just me, not knocking anyone else....;)

some nice looking fish but WOW $ for a fancy goldfish...

I have to agree with you there, but I guess to each his own. I would NEVER pay $3500 for any GOLDFISH. But hey thats me.

how about a fish made of 24 karat gold???

Just like with dogs, there are certain criteria that some people some where at some time decided was 'ideal' for the breed. Fish that meet these criteria (even if they are very sensitive and prone to health problems, as with many pure bred animals) are more valuable. Many of the criteria include color, shape, fins, conformation, wen (the growth on the head, etc. My Photobucket page in my signature shows my fancies that I found in LFSs and paid no more than $20 on any of them. I see no reason to spend $100 on ones that are usually not even as hardy when there are ones that are so nice in the LFSs waiting for a good home.

Nice gfish. Just saw some $100 ones at the petshop this past weekend. Never realized until they posted it up that they are now coming with certificates!

Please educate me on this...

Reminds me of Aro lovers, very subtle and slight things in body, shape, finage, coloration, that make a HUGE difference.

I don't see it either, at least not that much of a difference.

Any pics of yours?

High end breeders that use 'better' parents, produce offspring that fit the criteria as a better goldfish, end up costing a lot more. It is just like dogs. What is the difference between a lab looking mutt and a pure bred, high-end show winning lab? Not much unless you have developed an expensive taste for what others have told you is better.
