amehel0: I love cichla, but I can pretty mcuh order in what I need at my favourite LFS. But 'rare' species such as Festae (Never seen), Flowerhorns (Never seen) and EBJD's (Never seen) would presumeably be hard to import? To what extent can you order fish in? Like anything legal in Australia?

Festae arent exactly rare. I have a 8" male you can have for $50 if you want it. Plenty of Flowerhorns around here too. I guess it varies state to state.
And the laws in Australia are that the only fish that can be imported are off our legal import list which only contains about 200 fish. Everything else is illegal to be imported which is why they are so expensive. 99% of RTC, bichirs ect are smuggled in the same way ppl smuggle drugs and stuff in. From what i have been able to find out from fisheries though once they are in Australia there is technically no law that says you cant keep them unless they are noxious in your state.
