Extra Special?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are about 5 to 6" right now. Possibly pushing 7".

There is a very slight, slim chance they are sp. 'xingu II' actually. They look similar to the ones I had several years ago that I got from Rapps. Still too small to say for sure though.

I'm still leaning towards some variant of sp. 'lugubris' or strigata even. I seriously need to find someway to take better pictures of them. Would be pleased though if they did turn out to be marms. :)

Hey Jer, I finally got to digging through old pics and this is what I found of mine when I got it:

Don't be too quick to say that. Vennies don't have red eyeliner on the tops of their eyes, nor the 'black' head. Show a better picture of that pike Clint, the one you originally sent me. Pretty sure its Crenicichla sp. 'red faced lugubris'. Or is it Crenicichla sp. 'lugubris red face'? Dangit. . . .

I think I'm going to move all four of them over to the 300gal. I'll be able to see them better, and hopefully the other pikes swimming around will make them feel more comfortable. I'll just have to be ready to net them and remove them if things don't go well.

I will try to find that other pic.

Is this the one I sent you?

They are currently in the 300gal owning one side of the tank. They tag team the lents, its quite comical to watch. Two on one is not a fair fight. Definitely have colored up a lot and become a lot less shy. Starting to lean a lot more towards sp. 'xingu II' now. :D

I'm swamped at work, so haven't had much time to do much of anything. They are getting a huge waterchange this weekend, so I'll do my best to post pictures some time this weekend after that. Good enough?
