Extreme Makeover Home Edition.. too Extreme?

The ABC show Extreme Makeover Home Edition just did a home 2 weeks back about 30 miles from me, and it will be aired on their show in September...

I watch the show every now and then, and majority of the time, I find myself going "Serioudly?"

I get that you want to make things better and easier for the entire family, and that bad things happen to everyday ordinary people. I understand helping these people out and doing what's necessary...

However, I do have an issue when you are building an indoor basketball court for the family.. or when you're building them home movie theaters, in-ground swimming pools, lavish cathedral ceilings, jazuzzi's...

Yes, some of these things are FINE if it's needed. But majority of the time, it's not.

Several of these people's houses have been foreclosed on because they couldn't afford the mortgage/property taxes..

Am I the only one who thinks this show is a little bit too over the top?

Yeah the show would be much more interesting if they just bulldosed the old house and built a new basic track house.

I'm not talking about doing what would give the show ratings. i'm talking about do these people really NEED everything they pack into a house? In the end, the people end up losing everything because they can't afford these lavish things.

I am not talking about the show ratings at all. In any way. I'm talking about how much they over do it.

You would think that because they know people have lost their homes, that they would change things a bit.

I don't mind it for the people that can afford it...it's their money.

Yea, it's bad for those that can't and get the house foreclosed on.

I don't support the spread the wealth junk, however I don't support the rich asking average people to donate money for a cause either.

the extreme makeover, the overweight people one is pretty good. i watched like 10 min of last nights and found it very interesting

and yea, indoor basketball court is lame
