Extremely aggressive

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Maybe a big synodontis eupterus. They get pretty hefty and are tough. Just have some spots for it to duck into if it needs to.

The tank is 75 gallons right ebjd get 8 inches and jd get 10-12 right

Yeah and an sb rtc gets 12 inch? An flowerhorn is still an overly aggressive cichlid that works out best alone. Esp in a smaller tank. And IMHO an 75 gallon tank is to small for an FH alone. They get quite large. I would not put an FH in a tank smaller then 450L and esp not with an JD

I always thought FH were maniacs. GL with this.... i cant get fish to get along in a 300 so may the force be with you

There's a reason why you don't see a lot of FH in community tanks. lol All of my FH had the tank to themselves. My current midas flies solo for the same reason, he's simply too aggressive for tankmates. He bit a pleco clean in half yrs ago for no apparent reason.

Is a bonsai flowerhorn it won't be more than 6"

What regarding PH? It's quite common knowledge amongst FH keepers that (regardless of the exact mix of species making up an individual FH) they'll get better grooming results in a higher PH (e.g. 7.9-8.2). By better grooming I mean bigger kok (esp. in ZZ Dragons), brighter pearls and better red coloration -- I've seen it myself keeping them for well over a decade. A quick Google search and perusal of some FH forums will substantiate my experience.

First of a disclaimer: i’ve never been a FH fan, but thats interesting to hear...

Coz over here in Asia where i live, we have soft water with lower PH, yet a lot of the FH here have very large nuchal humps, so i wonder if its more to do with genetics than water parameters...
