"This guy should be supported and commended for what He is trying to do. "

and what exactly is that? what EXACTLY is he trying to do. why not just be honest about it.

for instance, if a 10in oscar goes for more than 50 dollars in his area at a LFS, than he is definitely doing the local fish community a service. but if he is selling his oscar for 50 dollars and a "used" 10in oscar is selling for 25-40dollars (like they are in most west coast lfs' that i've seen) then he's doing HIMSELF a service. heck, i just picked up a "used" 12in male jag for 30 bucks from one of my lfs'.....

now, again, there is nothing wrong with that but he should at least be honest about it if that is even a possibility.

and as far as talking about his harships in taking in the fish (medications, food, electricity, etc) those are all things that are complete tax writeoffs if he has taken the time to set up his own business/non-profit and money he would get back at the end of the year if he has done his homework. if he hasn't and jumped into this without the proper research then i don't know what else to say.

as far as the MFK thing i'm not going to comment as i don't know the rules regarding that.
Two things. First, see rallysman post. Second complete tax writeoffs do not mean you get all your money back. I'll leave the rest alone. Good luck to the original poster's sale and what He is trying to do.

i posted mine 6 minutes after his since the last time i refreshed the screen his post wasn't up yet. sorry i can't refresh my screen every 30 seconds when i'mn trying to bang out a post and work at the same time.

second, if he is selling fish and utilizing write-offs he will more than make up the difference. i know he won't get a 100% return as i've owned businesses in the past. but again, the combination of the two will not hurt him thats for sure.

So the reason you posted had nothing to do with the sale of His fish? It was just to question why and what He was doing it? With no knowledge of him or his motives. Got it. Free bump to the original poster and good luck with your sale.

leave his prices alone. if u dont like them, dont buy them. you have to remember he's doing this out of his own will. saving fish, giving them a place to live, then feeding them. then finding them homes. a small fee of "i know your legit and you'll care for it" wont hurt 1 bit. its more of knowing ur not a cheap ass and wont jus take the fish cuz u think its cool and free since he "saved" it.

goodluck on the sale, if u were closer i'd snag it up

i like how you said it.

$50 for a 16" CK is a good price anyway. if i hadnt just bought one i would be on my way to get it tomorrow! i think you are doing a great service to the hobby.

actually, my post has everything to do with the first post. he's advertising his site and the fish he has on it. i'm questioning his pricing of a 10in oscar for 50 bucks with no pictures showing the current physical status of the fish, its history or what kind of behavior patterns it exhibits. all important aspects when adopting out an animal. same thing is done on just about every humane society website in existence.

then when others quickly came to his defense (and rightly so from an emotional aspect) about the financial part of it i broke it down how he could in fact be making money with this venture.

read the MFK buy/sell rules!!! you may not contest the sellers price.

lol so now we are posting the rules?

what does it say about advertising the sale of fish (ie like a store or wholesaler) without first clearing it with the mods here? because the manner in which he is advertising his website and the sale of fish is clearly not your typical hobbyist unloading stuff he can no longer care for, is moving out of state, etc.

besides, everytime i've posted stuff for sale i've had the price questioned. in some cases i lowered my price and sold it, other times i held on and sold it on a different site. no tears on my end.

this post is about the ck only. he mearly mentioned his site. just because people contest your sale doesnt make that right either. if you dont like the sale then dont watch it!

does this CK eat preped foods? i think i remember reading that all of your fish eat prepped foods...correct me if im wrong. i may be interested in him. how far are you from kent, OH?
