WOW! Unbelievable! I guess some people just don't get it....

You actually think I make money at this????

Do you know of ANY rescue operation that MAKES money??? For an apparently smart business man you sure don't have a clue! Do you have any idea how much it costs to get set up as a non-profit business?? Do you know that if my non-profit business should ever go under that any and all moneys that are left over have to be donated to another non-profit by law??

Wake up and read the first statement on my website. "Do the research"

Then click on the "about us" icon

Yeah, I make lots of money; I'm a carpenter with four kids and a wife that doesn't work.... I'm raking in the cash! So much so I need to build a building to keep it all!

Far from it.

For over 20 yrs people have been dumping fish on me, usually people like you who don't give a damn. So what do I do? I get more tanks, I get tanks donated to me, I set them up and pay my $349 electric bill, my over $100 a month water bill. Those were last month’s statements. I got $43 in donations last month and didn't adopt out a single fish. Do the math......

As far as pricing of adoptable fish goes.... Read the site a little bit. Every price is negotiable and the sale of the fish has to be approved by me and me alone. I've given fish away to competent fish keepers because I knew they'd take care of it and if ever they couldn't the fish could come back to me no questions asked......

To the poster who was interested. His diet consisted of goldfish with his previous owner. I have seen it go for the same fish I feed the big cats (frozen fish fillets) but have not seen him eat yet. I've only had him for a week or so. The previous owner donated 6 leaky aquariums and $50 aught to be enough to fix them all (silicone and glass). That's why the quick turn around on this fish. It eats live food and I need the tanks fixed BUT DON'T HAVE THE $$$$$$$$$.

Since it needs to be spelled out to certain people:

The prices of fish on my site are listed as such to detour people just like the person questioning my motives. They are to detour people who just want a TSN because they "cool" looking. Only the serious hobbyist is the one who responds about the big cats or the $50 Oscars because it's those people who have the appropriate sized tanks and it's those people who have know how to care for the fish.

Good man!!!
its really good to see people in the hobby who really care about the fish. its people like you who are trying to save the hobby from a bad rep.

about the fish...what do you think the odds of weaning him from live foods would be at this point? have you seen it done?

"Do you know of ANY rescue operation that MAKES money??? "

huntington beach animal rescue. i worked for them while i was in high school. the owner was making an average 8K a month in 1992 and he's still in business today.....

"Do you have any idea how much it costs to get set up as a non-profit business??"

it cost me 900 dollars in legal fees to start up the one i did about 8 years ago. made that money back quick.

" Do you know that if my non-profit business should ever go under that any and all moneys that are left over have to be donated to another non-profit by law"

sure, if you leave everything out in the open. non-profits go under everyday and the people who start them up walk away doing just fine. i know two people here in socal associated with cancer related non-profits who aren't poor by any means even after they dissolved their non profits.

"I'm a carpenter with four kids and a wife that doesn't work.... I'm raking in the cash! So much so I need to build a building to keep it all!"

no need to get sarcastic and rude. i never once took this attitude with your initial posts, just the people that jumped on afterward. besides, no one put a gun to your head to do all of this. you CHOSE to get involved so heavily in this hobby. you CHOSE to build the large tank you have in your basement.

"For over 20 yrs people have been dumping fish on me, usually people like you who don't give a damn. "

now you're making personal attacks on me that have zero merit. you don't know ANYTHING about me bro. i've never once flushed a fish that was alive, released a non-native into the wild or pawned one off on a friend. but keep making up complete lies if thats what makes you feel better.

"I get more tanks, I get tanks donated to me, I set them up and pay my $349 electric bill, my over $100 a month water bill. Those were last month’s statements. I got $43 in donations last month and didn't adopt out a single fish."

you do know it is possible to say "no" occasionally. if this hobby is such a burden, why do you continue getting more tanks and adopting more fish? why don't you just say "no" every once and a while. i'm sure your family would appreciate it.

listen bro, your prices are going to detour people who know the hobby and the fish you have up on your website. i've got an empty 100gl just waiting for a few large cichlids and i plan on picking up a few from lfs' that have fish donated. but i'm not going to pay absurd prices for fish and if i lived in your area and saw your website i wouldn't give it a second thought. not because i'm not a competent fish keeper but because your posted prices are too high. rarely, even when its posted that "price is negotiable" is that really the case. in my opinion. you should just list the fish you have up for sale without any prices listed and say something like "email/call for pricing." that would eliminate alot of the bullsh*tters out there who won't make the commitment to the fish.

wrong4life, get over it... jesus christ.

do u wanna buy his ck? apparently NOT. GTFO his thread... get over his prices, and his website, and what hes trying to do. you obviously have nothing to do with anything and dont care for nothing but a cheap fish since he didnt pay much for it. do what u do and go get fish at "great" prices as none of us give a crap. TFG is well known and what he does is awesome. who the hell are you, and what have u done in this industry? he has home made dope tanks, saves fish, feeds them, finds them homes at NON PROFIT. you complain about prices of a non profit guy. give me a break.

good luck tfg, free bump.

No more derailing. You can either buy it or not buy it.

x2

He's trying to help people and has expenses to cover. Quit posting about rule breaking when it simply isn't. All some of you guys do is b$tch about rules.. He's not a vendor because he doesn't have 100 tig cats and 50 oscars he's trying to sell. He has one or two of each item.

If you don't agree with the prices, keep it to yourself. No need to post it here in the open. He's trying to help save fish. That deserves praise, not flaming.

Once again, I wonder about the legalities and logistics of a nonprofit business solicitiing MFK for personal use.

Mod??
And so this is not a derail thread, what is the diet of your fish? I'm curious if you have pics of the oscars. Thanks

lol

can't win for losing around here.

free bump for the CK to go to a good home.
