F1 Labiatus from Rapps

Getting a sexed F1 pair of Amphilophus Labiatus from Jeff Rapps and I am very excited. I have a 125 ready to go for them. He said they are about 4.5" now. Do you guys think I should keep them as just pair in the 125, or would a little action in the tank keep them distracted?

My midas pair shares a 125 with a convict pair for now... There was giant danios for awhile, but I got rid of them once they started getting hammered

I think its a good idea to give them a distraction/target.it can help them team up,strengthen the pair

it may keep em distracted, but once whatever is distracting them has their attention.......then what? it'll be fun and games .... until it ain't.

I have a w/c pair from Jeff that I keep in my 180 with several other fish. They spawn pretty regularly, but the male is almost always ready to go. I think that if I just had the pair in the tank, the female would have been killed a long time ago. The other fish give the male something to chase when the female is hiding.

In the consensus that if they are kept alone the male will eventually turn on the female?

It's always a crap shoot with Cichlids. By the numbers, many of us here have successful set ups that absolutely shouldn't work. Others struggle with social issues that shouldn't exist. Fish are jerks, they're all different like people.
