Description: The Fahaka Puffer is an intelligent fish with a great personality. The Fahaka Puffer is the second largest of the freshwater puffers. This puffer will not tolerate other tanks mates and will most likely kill them. It is rare that a Fahaka Puffer will tolerate tank mates. The Fahaka Puffer should be housed in a 125+ gallon aquarium when it is full grown. It swims in all regions of the tank. It is highly recommended that you use sand as substrate because they love to burrow in the sand. They will learn who their owners are.

Feeding:*These fish have big appetites!* Carnivore: Prawns, live/frozen shrimp, frozen/freeze dried krill, earthworms, live/frozen bloodworms, oysters, clams, crabs, crayfish, snails, insects such as meal worms and crickets.

*Note* The Fahaka Puffer have teeth that helps it chew food. It is important to feed them a variety of food to help trim their teeth.

In the home aquarium: It is important to change the water every week. Do a weekly 25%-50% water change to keep your Fahaka Puffer healthy.

*Note* It is highly recommended that only experienced fish keepers keep these fish.

Great profile! Only thing I'd change is: The Fahaka Puffer have plates that helps it tear & chew food. It is important to feed them a variety of crunchy foods to help trim their teeth.

Thank You! Im going to have to PM a mod because I cant edit anymore ahaha. Times up for me!

I had a baby fahaka, had him for 4 months or so, everything doing well then had a power cut and that was then end for him, gutted. Such a responsive fish as well. Haven't found one since. Good shout on the profile though cute looking fella!
(Thats him in my avatar :( )

I have one that is about 5-6 inches now. I am currently setting up a 180 for him to move from his 75. He actually eats pellets! Amongst other things such as nightcrawlers, earthworms, red wigglers, marmokrebs, snails and the occasional bloodworm if he feels like it...

Actually, an even better way to describe their teeth: 4 fused plates that form beaks.

I can't wait to get one of these guys. Once I purchase my first house I will get one without a doubt.

These guys are amazing! One of the best fish ive ever kept! :)

I'm in the same boat as you guys. This is the fish I wanted, but the parentals gave me a big no when I proposed a bigger tank. Next year when I by my place I will be setting up a large tank to house a fahaka. They are awesome fish.
