He'll be here tomorrow. I'll post when he arrives!

Showed up in fine form and trying to fight out of the bag! I'll post some pics as soon as he's settled. Anyone who is looking for them Mark Denaro (Anubias Design) has them for $18!

Couple questions,

Where do you folks get your shellfish? Are the ones from the market OK? Where does one find cockles? He's doing pretty good; eating FD krill, and fresh killed crays. He's small so I want to capitalize on his youthful growth spurts.

Also, it absolutely pains me to watch him in there alone. Thus, I am going to get him some fast swimmers, fully aware that I may find them gutted one day. I'm thinking some giant danios or something fast like that. Or maybe some golden sharks.

Pufferpunk, I saw you post in another thread to feed twice per day to a "rounded belly" two days on and one day off. By rounded belly do you mean tight and marble like? Or just so he has a nice belly on him?

^ You can feed almost any frozen foods to your puffer as long as you defrost it... i personally feed my puffers defrosted Mussels, Scallops etc...

As for the round belly remark, its basically till you see your puff has a little bit of a buldge, but not so stuffed that it looks a round ball...

wheres these pics you speak of?

Market stuff is good, though careful on any prawn as it contains thiaminse which can be harmful in large amounts so vary the diet well :)
As to tankmates. I have considered bala sharks for my fahaka, but havent quite crossed the boundary after seeing him hunt. He was with 9 neon tetras for one night and managed to eat two entirely over that one night..of course balas and danios are bigger..When I enquired on this, there needs to be proper filtration and consider that they may be eaten as generally peeps say only 1% of fahakas work with other fishies..

Thanks for the replies folks. He doesn't seem to like the krill very much, definately prefers stuff that moves. I'd like to try snails, but want to make sure and fine some clean ones first.

If you have a 10G laying around by some chance you can use that to quarantine your first batch of snails, and while they're in there you might even get them to start breeding which will definitely help you a lot more in the long run for clean snails, especially stuff like ramshorns which breed quite rapidly...
