My area they are 19.00 bucks at my LFS's there are a few on CL that still try to rip people off i saw 2 four inchers and the seller was trying to get 100 bucks a pop.

At 4" you can definitely tell the difference between a good ebjd and a poor quality one so a nice 4"+ specimen selling for $100 is not a bad deal if you are looking for an ebjd. At 1" though $40 is way too high. The best way to buy ebjd at that size is getting a small group I've paid anywhere from $5 each to $15 each for 1". The chances of ending up with a quality adult ebjd when buying 1" fish are slim.
It also depends on quality of the ebjd It can depend. Alot of quality breeders take alot of time to get the best of the best. Then cull the rest of less then disarable traits. look lfs is there to make profit and ebjd is a money cow.. Depends on location on quality. some people will sell the garbage for big bucks

also it will take a while to get them they are not the easy fish to breed...I have currently 25 growing out..
The cheapest I ever seen EBJD, is 13.50 for under 1 inch honestly.Other then that, I think 40 dollars for 1 inch is a big rip off.They usually go for 25 the most for 1 inch.
Saw pretty much the same price today at the LFS, but these were closer to 1 1/2 inches to 2 inches. I wasn't blown away by their color but I don't know if that's normal at that size. I've never kept one.
