Fake Vendors and Nonsense in the Market....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually like that last idea K krichardson .

This thread is a goldmine for me, and I'm really looking forward to trying to fix some of these issues next year after I heave the marketplace back into the direction I wish it to go. The first step is the jackassery, the second step is cleaning up the fake vendors, the third step is giving you guys a way to sort by region and the fourth step is to bring back feedback ratings. The first two are a go, the third is probable and the fourth seems like a long shot.

After that, I intend to try to tackle the like button. I'd like to think the general attitude of the staff is fair, and that my new mods are all considered trustworthy, upstanding members of the community.

All of us on your staff team are completely onboard with wanting this forum to maintain its academic integrity, but none of us want to quash the sense of community, either. That being said, we as moderators will MODERATE discussions where needed. Use that report button and let us know! :)

Thread is all over the place with complaints, gripes and suggestions but here is a suggestion as it relates to the subject, another forum that I regularly post on has a marketplace in which no posts are allowed except by the seller/thread starter so the only activity on any sale thread is from the seller either bumping or requesting that the thread be closed..with all other postings blocked there is no so called "fluff or chit chat" and any interested members have the option of contacting the seller via private message.

That's somewhat the way I do it on the fishing website I run too and it works really well. The only people allowed to reply to any for sale items are actual interested parties or the seller. One other thing I do is I make it so you have to have a 40 minimum post count to post an item for sale on my site. That weeds out the bozos that join the site just to sell something as well as any unscrupulous scammers and such.

That's what he has hired us for :D
Mind you I have two very well behaved forums, I swear the poly guys are the most chilled ever. I sometimes wonder if we have the laid-back personalities of our fish, but could maybe apply the same theory to the cichlid forum :evil_lol:

What exactly are you tackling? The like button wasn’t on the table. I disagree, think it’s a great feature and dont want to see it go anywhere. It isn’t hurting anyone. My experience has been the opposite, a like is engaging and encouraging to some who may not contribute otherwise. Most likes are accompanied by a comment.
