Those Lady Amherst Pheasants are pretty awesome. How much do they run? Did a search and only found pics.

There is a place in Puyallup that raisese a limited # and sells chicks @ $45 ea or at least did in 1995, nick, you are right as far as badgers, no one sells themas pets and if they did you would be dumb to buy one, foxes don't tame well but just yesterday I saw something on animal planet about a russian gal who is breeding docile ones to eventuallysell, she is on the 5-6 generation now, if yuo want one bred for the fur trade they run about $10 ea when you buy one hundred as kits. In the states you need a furriers breeding permit.Dphantom, you are lucky, your dream pet is within reach. Mine ( a pair of servals) would cost me $3000 at least and that is at least for now, still a dream.

Oh yeah....lady amherst all the way!!! I remember falling in love with them at the NY State fair. I also like silver pheasants. I am a big fan of the argus pheasant, not as colorful as the other two but really neat.

I got another animal on my list...fenic fox or other similer small fox.

Okay, my last post before bed. silver pheasants can be found for around 50 dollars ea as chicks, fennecs, bateared foxes and lybian desert foxes are all class 1s, endangered species and kit foxes are listed as threatened with several sub races like the san joquin kit fox being endangered so unless you can get a research permit you can't buy, import, or own them. You could legally get a jackal or artic fox with an exotic animal permit but they are notoriously bad tempered. I haven't seen anything on gray foxes. sorry. argus pheasants run $20-30 per chick, about the same as peacocks but harder to find.

I had a nieghbor who had a racoon and a descented skunk, both were great but he had to "childproof" his house because between the two of them they got into everything. I recently saw a couple baby racoons and some coatimundis at a local pet store for $ 150 each and they had already had their distemper and rabies shots, vary cool. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the powers that be will rescind the ban on asian aros.

Koalas are cute, they stink a bit and need blue gum or eucalyptus leaves, I think that last year they were running around 3 grand each for legal captive bred. black bear cubs are available at around a grand this year and grow to around 300lbs max in four years, high maintainence but really cool, I would not trust them but then I'm a pussy.
Someone buy me a koala!:)

and what kind of conditions do eucalyptus trees need?... :hearts:

Blue gums grow quick and require slightly acidic soil, other gum trees can be substituted but you will need diet supplements. It has been several years since I have seen a Koala for sale. I don't know if the rules are still the same but it used to be that you needed to show an inspecter that you could keep one right and agree to have it available for breeding. Same thing applies for tarsiers and bushbabies. As a matter of fact many CITES II critters are available if you follow those rules. I have no idea what it would cost.

ill take a dingo or an african wild dog. dogs are mans best friend. cats are too damn mean, bears are too damn big, and koalas have mean ass claws. we already know dogs can be tamed and domesticated. and we know that cats are the top predators on land other than us. i dont wanna have to wrestle a bear or tiger. ill stay with the dogs.
