I only asked about the other horse forums because my wife is usually on a few of them. Here is a link to our blog. She updates it pretty much daily. There are lots of pics too! Even a few of our rescues. http://ctgponies.blogspot.com
We have miniatures, a Mexican mustang and a POA that we own at the farm. We also pick up rescues here and there. Pretty much all of the horses we have could be considered rescues. Both of the minis were in rough shape when we got them. One was local and the other came from an auction. The POA came from an auction and was missing one of her heel bulbs, and had horrible thrush in all four feet so needless to say she was lame and is just gettting better now. The Mexican mustang was aquired by paying some back board someone owed on him. He was completely lame due to bad farrier and vet care. He was just a little over at the knee. The woman who was riding him was too heavy and she would ride him too hard. So, he would go lame after riding. The farrier put bar shoes on him and left the heels really high to try to fix the "problem" and the vet did x-rays and injections before advising the owner to possibly put him down. Thank god she didnt! We pulled his shoes, got the heels back down, and basically let him be a horse for a while. Less than one year later he is 100% sound and being used as my daughter's barrel horse. She is doing so well on him that she will be doing some NBHA and IBHA events this year as well as lots of local stuff. She even did an English show and won her event in her barrel saddle. You should have seen the looks we got from some of the trainers. LOL! Here is a pic

Sorry about the tears. They usually do end up saying thanks or paying you back in some way and even if they dont it's still nice to do the right thing. I also try to keep my wife and daughter away from the auction as we would be overrun! Unfortunately, you cant save them all!
