now that ive got a reliable method of doing my water changes, id like to explore something faster with the water removal.

im close to a window, id say ten feet, and my siphon tubing reaches it easily, but if someone has come up with a method to attach their siphon to a powerhead or something that significantly speeds up the process id be welcome to know.

and my most important note is that, a python method is not going to work. no arguments....not going to work. period.

if you have a suggestion or something you use thats very reliable, please pm me or post here with how you did it, and with what.

thanks

buy a maxijet 1200
find a piece of tubing that attaches to its output (maybe 1/4 inch i think check before buying)

powerhead petsmart or petco should have it.

you could also buy just buy a thicker diameter tube to siphon

Ya, just hook up a tube to the output of any powerhead. If you want it to go really fast, buy a big rio. You could drain your tank in a minute flat.

My method isn't as simple as just using the one siphon, but it works for me. I siphon the water into a 50 gallon barrel. A hose going into the barrel is connected with an external pump, which pumps the water out of the door, or window, or whatever, by way of another hose. It sounds complicated, but it's actually pretty fast.

I use a washing machine flexible waste pipe thats 10 metres long, it empties a tank real fast! And the bonus is it fits onto my kitchen tap for fast refills.

I use my quiet one 6000 to drain my 180gallon. When Im done with my 450gal build Im gonna have to figure out a way to drain it with a 5000gph pump.

A 1" hose drains things REAL fast. 1 1/2 would be SUPER quick.

ill have to check out whatever powerhead i get, and see what it will hook up to. i end up waiting like 10 minutes for my siphon to finish the job. so far, the maxijet is in :)

I vote 1 1/2" flex hose, suck at one end and BOOM tank is gone, maybe ur fish to if ur not careful;)

Northern IL are ya? Im in Lakemoor, where you at?
