ill have to check out whatever powerhead i get, and see what it will hook up to. i end up waiting like 10 minutes for my siphon to finish the job. so far, the maxijet is in :)
you may not even need a pump. it you get a very large diameter hose from homedepot it will go extremely fast

I vote 1 1/2" flex hose, suck at one end and BOOM tank is gone, maybe ur fish to if ur not careful;)

Northern IL are ya? Im in Lakemoor, where you at?
Lakemoor towards Chicago suburbs?

I live in Kirkland, in DeKalb County, small town, about a half hour between Rockford and Sycamore

not sure if my tank volume is large enough to warrant a 1.5" hose, .75-1" sounds better

ah your way west of me, I am in lake county almost boarding mchenry county.

1" hose is a good size, would drain my g/f's 55gallon in not much more than 60 seconds, if that.

water tank holding treated water.... pump X amount from the tank and pump x amount back in...

well i use 5 gallon buckets since im going up and down stairs, and thats real fast for putting the water back, just getting it out takes a long time

Yeah who needs to work out when you carry 48 pounds of water up stairs. That's how I change the water in 7 of my tanks 2 buckets at a time.

Stick the hose out the window and a drill pump inline with the hose. If you have an electric drill or scree driver it'll be faster and easier then having to plug in your power head.

Drill Pump

powerheads move more water.

The Maxi-jet 1200 runs at 295 GPH the Drill pump runs at 216 GPH. The further down you dangle the hose out the window the faster the tank will drain, same goes for a larger inner diameter.

I used pumps to do water changes on my 265, too much hassle. Took one of those flapper valve equiped syphon kits put a longer hose on it to reach the ground out the window. 50 Gallons takes maybe 15 minutes. Takes the same amount of time to refill the tank with a Quiet One 2200.
