Fastest growing fish ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My Irwini catfish puts on about an inch a month, growing way quicker than my Granulosus cat.

The bigger the adult fish, the faster they seem to grow. My silver aro has gone from 8" a year ago to 25-26" now, that's around 1.5" per month. Most of my SA cichlids also easily grew an inch a month. Giant gouramis also grow very fast, and bulk up very quickly.
Airapaima, RTC, gars and SNC are probably the fastest growing out of the lot.

I wish that mine would exhibit that kind of growth.

I think the key to their happiness is not disturbing them and giving a good hideout. Mine has a sweet spot under a few flat rocks and a giant piece of wood. I can access the tank from the back, so I drop food down to the back of his cave. He plows thru algae wafers and hikari pellets like crazy.

My new arowana and albino pacu have both grown considerably in 3 weeks
The arowana is a full inch plus longer and the pacu was the size of a quarter and now the size of a solo cup bottom
Everything I look at him He is bigger

Channel catfish.....unreal growth rate for a moderate sized fish - my last one grew from 3" to 23.5" in about 10 1/2 months at 78F.

He's been living in a friend's 5,000 gallon pond for 4 or 5 years now and he's probably about 36" and at least 20lbs.
