Hi,

My female FH seems to be getting really fat.

I think her egg tube is dropped, she isn't eating as usual, water parameters are 0,0,5-10ppm

Please help she has gone really placid, isn't swimming much.

Thanks

Looks normal to me. My females get more plump than that when they're about to lay eggs. I had fry that I thought were eating too much but about 6 of them laying eggs in different areas of the tank. In my experience its normal but if its not swimming like normal thats unusual. My fish swim the same but are more aggressive.

Her tube is down for sure give it max 3 days and if she doesn't lay you might have an issue. She might absorb the eggs which is normal if there is no male. I had females lay eggs all at one time for one male.

thanks for the reply, should i do a water change or increase the temp or anything?

she has not been swimming for maybe a day now, but she really plumped up 2 days ago.

Thanks

I would do a water change for sure. It usually makes them want to lay eggs. As for temp keep it the same I always have mine at 82-84 and do a slightly colder wanter change to make them spawn probably at 76-80 degrees.

is she still eating?
No, I mentioned that in the first post.

She had also lost all color, looks grey, and is now floating in the bottom corner of the tank.

I just did a water change and cooled it to 27°C.

I'm getting worried

she is probably egg bound. In the ideal world she would reabsorb her eggs but I don't think that will happen here. The best treatment would be surgery or hormone therapy which would need to be done by a vet. There are many great fish vets in Australia but obviously don't know if they are by you. you could try to gentle hand strip her and see if you can work out the eggs. You need to be very careful and if its not working stop.
Also many of these fish do get secondary infections. So you may need to treat for that too.
