Favorite Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks fisher5, he looked like that when I got him basically, his coloration is developing and the hump is staying proportional and not bending his spine yet. Time will tell, but I'm hopeful he's with me for a very long time.

its a toss up with me . I like all larger cichlids. The ones I have now are all my favorites. .. I gotta say though when my male bleekri died I cried.

My favorite fish I've owned and raised was my male managuense. Had that fish for 6 years. Was 14 inches when he died. No pictures on this phone sadly. My favorite fish I've yet to own would either be RTM or a red terror.

Oscar guy here, I have jags and some others, but if only one cichlid, be an oscar.

Because there are over 3000 species of cichlids worldwide, for me this is an almost impossible question to answer, luckily it has been narrowed down to American cichlids, bringing it to maybe a little less than 1000. If you were to throw in Madagascans ( equally my favorites) I'd be in a real quandry,
But probably the favorite I have owned was Nandopsis haitiensus, and funny someone mentioned they were impossible to get, when I had hundreds of fry, I had a hard time giving them away.

One that I'd now love to own, but haven't yet, is Nandopsis ramsdeni, and since I haven't ever kept one, no photo.
Another I have owned that would rate right up there with haitiensus, would be Tomocichla tuba, but this was so long ago, my photo was with a flip phone.
I'll take some !!!!
