I had a guy come in, asking for ALL our tiger barbs. I asked what tank he had, and he said "I dunno, but it's a big bowl, like this" and shows my a roughly 18" sized goldfish bowl. I asked him how he was heating and filtering the thing... and he went blank.

The funny thing was, though, that I tried to teach him about tropical tanks and heaters, and he asked me to get a heater suitable for his bowl. Just me being nice, I got him a small heater to show him what I was talking about, and now all of a sudden he has one of those at home. After not knowing what it is, even after I showed him some in the stock tanks.

He then wanted a BGK for his bowl. Apparently its ok if a fish can't turn around in its tank.

As a side note, more than half the people who come into the shop believe that thier 4' tank is HUGE. And everyone who believes this, happens to have a Paroon shark. Sickens me.

OMG, I have that all of the time i.e. Can we get a Dinosaur Bichir
(they pronounce it wrong)....And now since I'm really stubborn to let anyone have a Bichir/Dragon Goby without telling them the proper care the basic questions come up...They answer (through their kids :irked:) oh yeah we have that, me not convinced ask what size it is....then half way through they change their answer....BTW the guy said he was feeding it Koi food, I told him that it does not have enough protein for a Bichir, he said it's the only thing it eats I showed him bloodworms and told him about massivore, he said he had bloodworms.....

Also I had a kid with a 55gal and had a Dragon Goby, I told him that it's Brackish water he went back to the fish and got a Peacock Eel, not the greatest situation but....

Im joking around here, but if a fih can live in a bowl it can turn around because the bowl is round.

I just got a job and it's only a block away from the local chain store and I can't help but go visit it whenever they get new fish. Even though they never have anything good and last time I found something cool (pretty angelfish) I got Ick the next day in my tank (Took care of it with salt with no casualties).

Anyway, there was a couple there looking at Goldfish and the GF was like "They have a pleco here. You could get one for your tank. You know they clean right? They'll eat the alge and stuff."

I butted in and told em that Pleco's are poop machines, so they would add more dirtyness then they would clean. They didn't buy it :)

This is why one has a "Querentine(sp) Tank" to prevent fish loss, or spread of diesease.....

Had a young couple come in asking about fish they were very knowledgeable (THANK GOODNESS) and were ready for a group of fish and I showed them ottos they loved them and got four....Two hours later they're back (I thought oh no they didn't loose the ottos) no they were getting ANOTHER Tank...A two weeks later they bought a Fantail Goldfish for a 37gal and four more ottos for their mothers 29gal.....This is a happy day in fish keeping, People that Research....

On another note, why do people always assume they know more than you....Yeah I have like 8 Tanks with assorted fish and have breed blah, blah, blah. Don't judge people because of where they work or how they look......

my LFS has a 200g large fish display tank with wrasses and angels for sale and 10 little one gallon cubes in tadem above it for juvinile clownfish and such. well a 2'' strawberry pseudochromis was in one of the cubicles and jumped into the 200g tank. now its set up residents under a shell... good luck getting that fish out.

Lady comes in asking why her plants are dying, i asked her what kind of bulb and stuff, she said she had a light but it blew a week ago. So i took her over to the light section, (we didnt have 2 bulbs that she required we only had 1 in stock and the others got sold 2 days ago) so shes like, OH WELL I GOT TOLD YOU WERE THE BIGGEST SUPPLIERS OF LIGHTS! practically yelling at me, i said we just ran out of stock and we should have more in on thursday, WELL THAT DOESNT HELP ME NOW DOES IT!, she had veins on her face and everything, like she was gonna eat me!

She just pissed me off, she wanted a plant -.- even though i told her not until she gets her light in a couple of days, but no she insists. She was then trying to tell me what plant was what......*Shakes head*.

I had another story that happened 3 weeks ago but i forget them when i come home lol

Not sure the point of bumping this since the last post was today?

Well prevented Beginners from getting a few Goldfish for a ten gallon (I hope)

Also met a fellow MFKer (What's up!)
And how does a Kissing Gourami stay alive for 6 years in a thirty gallon?

One of the LFS clerks yesterday suggested that instead of useing food as an ammonia source to cycle my tank which would make the water look messy that I pee in the tank. While Im sure this would work, rotting krill stink bad enuff I cant imagine 75g of pee water :barf:
