Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

Had a customer come in today for a nemo in a bowl -.-.

Then he asked me if i would come clean his tank if he set it up, he said he wants an 8ft. -.-. No obviously, if i got paid 50 and hour mabye, but i just dont have the time.

Off topic but i had the strangest evening today; Was coming home from work, about to turn a corner and we saw a family of ducks and their ducklings crossing the road. Cars were swerving while the family where in the middle of the road and this Dude just comes along and runs the mother over. I jumped out of the car and stopped traffic and helped them all accross the road. This is old northen road the busiest road around here, i picked up the ducklings and the hurt duck, put them in the car, i was going after the dad so they coul all be a family again but i couldnt get him. He was flying around frantically above me looking for his family, landed on the footpath about 15 metres away from me, ran onto the road and he also got ran over! feathers and guts everywhere. Took the hurt duck and the ducklings to a vet and will be cared for.
I had about 7 cars beeping at me.

ok ive got a couple:

once when i was at petsmart, i noticed a family holding a bowl looking at fish. they went up to an employee and said, we want one if those! they were pointing at the bala sharks. i butted in and said that those get over a foot long. the family said oh, thanks. the employee wasnt too happy.

i called my good lfs, and unfortunately, the one employee who isnt too smart picked up the phone. i tried to be nice...:
me-do you have spotted silver dollars?
her-ummm yes i think so.
me- uh, will the spotteds eat fewer plants than regular silver dollars?
her- umm, yeah silver dollars might nibble on your plants a bit.
at this point i was about to hang up.
me- one more thing. whats the minimum tank size for discus?
i just wanted to see if she had a clue what she was talking about. i explained stuff to her next time i went there.
her- uh they get pretty big, so id say like a 29 gallon.
me- ok thanks bye.

i went to my other good lfs, and was in the sw section, looking at corals. unfortunately, one of the not so smart employees came over to me.
me- hey can you show me the mushroom corals?
employee- yeah. here they are.
he proceeded to point at every soft coral in the tank, calling it a mushroom.
me- ok thanks.
i had noticed the real mushroom corals when he was doing this,
me- hey im looking for something to eat algae. can you show me what youve got that will do the job?
employee- sure. hmm. okay, what size tank is it?
me- 30gallons.
employee- ok... hmm you could get this unicorn tang, or this horse conch, or this yellow tang, or this foxface, or these turbo snails.
me-............. ill get a turbo snail.

another time when i was at this lfs:
me- hey whats the minimum wpg a long tentacle anemone should have?
employee- how many wpg do you have?
me- 2.
employee- thats fine.
me- ok.
i left.

same lfs again. but this time just seeing how much an employee knew. it was the same one that told me i could get a unicorn tang for my saltwater tank:
me- hey can i get a single discus? theyll be fine in a 10gallon tank right?
employee- yup. here ya go.
me- thanks.
i handed the bagged discus to another employee and said i didnt want it anymore, she put it back into the tank.

You just stressed all the discus in the tank by netting their tankmate, then stressed the individual discus further by having them bag it. The just give to another person to release him? All just to test an employee? Wow...
 
oh..... i hadnt thought about that......... dammit.:irked:
the fish were in good shape... and the store rarely has sick fish... i hope the discus ended up being okay.

Thats terrible :( with college ive worked with a lot of different birds and livestock such as ducks and i love them :( i couldnt have watched the on get run over, and thanx for being the good guy
 
I had another guy ask for a discount today, he bought a few plants and fish and it came to about £19, if i remember right 'can i have a discount' i said sure, and asked my manager he said £18.00. so he saved £1 lol. I dont mind knocking people and good customers some money off but its when people ask for one that i dont.
 
speakin of ducks, one decided to make a nest in front of my high school, in a garden area. me and my friend gave it food and water and right before the end of the year its eggs hatched and it was gone.
 
I feel so terribly for the ducks. The only thing worse than roadkill is when your pet ends up as roadkill... I had a cat I wanted to be indoor, but my roommates let it out all the time, saying "it's a cat; it'll be fine... they'll avoid the cars... there's no coyotes here..."

This was on route 31 in CT, which is a 50 mph road, right smack dab in the middle of coyote country. (if you have more than 5 acres of forest in your town, you have coyotes.) Long story short, I had to bury my son this april. I feel you.
