I'm not saying guns don't have an effect on some crimes. I am saying they do not have an effect on all crime, which so many seem to want to believe.

this is a belief of yours, you can't prove that either.

let me just say this;

nations have this thing called "mutually assured destruction" which means they don't nuke other nations that also have nuclear bombs. why? because it's too risky. it forces both sides to reconsider what they are doing and think much harder about a better solution to their problems. it's no coincidence that the only nation to ever get nuked was also a nation that did not have nuclear bombs.

if japan had nuclear bombs, don't you think the usa would have had a different strategy for dealing with them?

PS to bderick, you mentioned arson. You do know that many arsons are used to cover up other crimes right? No of course you dont know that.
