Feces and Carbon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks. The next filter I get, I'm gonna take out the carbon and fill iy up with bio media.
what's discoloration in water though? I don't get the meaning of the defintion..

yeah i saw his feces today..when i fed him yesterday.
and i tried to scoop it up a gently as possible, but it still broke down a little and make a small cloud around the area.

use a gravel vaccum.

You need a powerful filter for turtles... Think about this way.... a week of heavily-stocked aquarium worth of fish in waste is the same as a turtle waste in a day. A lot of the turtle owners I know either make their own filter or use a Fluxal.

Why are you scooping your turtles waste? Do you scoop your fishes waste too?
Siphon it out into a bucket or use a python.

Doing a 100% water change doesn't remove your biological bacteria since your established bacteria is on solid surfaces of your aquarium, like the sides and in the filter media.

Turtles produce A LOT of waste. Doing a 100% water change on a 40g turtle tank that's not even fully filled isn't going to deprive your biological bacteria of food. You could do a 100% water change every single day and your turtle would still produce enough waste to keep a good colony of bacteria going.

Discoloration can mean a lot of things, acidic swamps often have tea colored water from dissolve tannic acid, glacial streare often colored grey from rock dust, gray water is often caused by bacteria, green, clear water is usually from one celled suspended algae, all are discolorations.

hey bloodyirish; thanks for the example. i'm ordering a canister filter. and what's a fluxal?

shadowbass; yeah I scoop my turtles and fish's feces. I just don't like it laying around. I don't think a python would be worth using in a bare-bottom tank. i did order a electric powered one though..don't know if it'll suck the turtle feces without breaking it apart..
and i regularly clean the slime off the tank walls..would it still hold BB?
i also feed him outside of his tank..in a feeding tub

guppy; thanks. so discolored water is water that has color... i was thinking something else.

A Fluxal is me being a stupid drunk.

What I means is a Fluval.

LOL, Fluvals are really good (depending on who you talk to) canister filters

haha that's what I though.lol

off-topic..what ever happened to that hagen offer?
