high protein foods, but a varied diet is also important so feed a bunch of different foods. feed many small meals through out the day.
 
try to throw in a little bit of everything to see what it will take. it would definately take guppies and bloodworms. try getting it on pellets asap.
 
I don't understand how you guys answered this question... He didn't state the type of fish but I guess it's because the sites name Monster Fish Keepers meaning you have a monster there. Yeah high protein foods are best but vary the diet from frozen food to live food to pellet foods. Good Luck

He posted in the Cichla forum so it's assumed that it's a Cichla.

Feeder fish will actually give the best results in cichla as long as you dont use any cyprinids (like goldfish.)
