Okay I know how UN healthy feeder fish can and the nutrition value isn't the best. What is the best feeder and easyest to breed? I was thinking Brina shrimp any suggestions? I don't want to feed my redtail just feeders just to have them as a little treat

I guess this is for a red tail catfish? In which case i doubt brine shrimp will hrlp considering their large appetites...

I always hear convicts are easy to breed and once they goin they are like rabbits an dont stop...

But may i ask why feed feeders at all? Even as a treat if you know they aren't necessary? After all you could just as easily goto the frozen food section in your supermarket to pick up some seafood, defrost it in a cup of tank water and feed...

Well ATM he's just a baby he's about 4 inches if that. And why? Its really all about I like predatory. I used to have 6 huge channel catfish and I used to buy 50 feeder gold fish at a time. I was also thinking of going to the local pond and getting a net since there's 1000s of bait fish

Why feed live is because they are predators by nature. I also use goldfish.

I also go to my grocery store and but fresh catfish talapia squid shrimp scalops and you name it. I will chop it up and freeze it then break off cubes and feed them that. Fish love it.

To each his own i guess?

But just as a word of advise, if you go the route of catching wild fish to use as feeders, be sure to quarantine them first, since dealing with internal parasites is no fun...

2nding the quarantine of wild caught feeders the last thing you need is introduced disease. Stay away from goldfish and gut load the feeders before you drop them in, may as well give them as much nutrients as possible.

i feed my catfish shrimp and tilapia from the store. if you really want to breed feeder fish, the easiest would be guppies, u just leave them alone and every 28 days they give live birth. at least u can keep your feeders in good living conditions unlike the LFS suppliers
