feeders

I don't know what these people are talking about. A 90g is plenty big for a male dovii. They only get like 20+ inches right? I don't see a problem.

only problem i see is. basicly, you've been having problems with her eating period. and feeding her live IMO will only pro-long the need to get her on a good staple pellet. i've had fish in the past who after getting feeders, completely refused all other foods, and starved themself to death. not to mention the possibilty of parasites contained within the feeders. if you do the feeder route, then always buy a good stock of feeders, and condition them in a "feeder tank", that way you can pump some good food in them. before feeding them to your fish. ;)

btw, that is a awsome pic of a male RD in your avatar, did you recently pick that one up?

Yeah... Im gonna say dont order a male from rapps. They will need a huge tank. Tha female will even get a little big for a 75, and I still doubt the existance of the pond untill I see pics. If you have one however, go for it, but put them straight in the pond. 90 wont work.

What's wrong with taking his word for it? Why is it so hard to believe that he's an owner of a Dovii in a 75 gallon tank and also a pond yet to be set up? I don't see what there would be to gain from lieing about something like that on here would be.

Good luck with attaining a male and getting them to breed, I bet you will find good luck in a pond.;)

we all know he has a dovii in a 75, no one doubts that

people doubt he has a pond simply because we've seen pics of all his fish and tanks, and yet none of the pond
personally..i couldn't care less...lol

but everyone here has told him that a 90 will not EVER work for a male Dovii..let alone a pair..

yes they do, but they are some of the most active swimmers in the cichlid worls, and come on, how the hell would you be able to justify a 20" dovii in a 90 gallon tank, that would need 180-240 minimum

I'm trying to give him the answer he wants. He knows it won't work but he still won't listen. Obviously its too small, but I would put money on him having a male dovii within the next 2 weeks.

to be a good memeber on this site you have to tell them the correct info, even if they do not want to hear it. and i just find fun in correcting people personally

A Dovii could live comfortably for a little over a year in a 90 as a growout, however, a full adult can get up to 24" so I would say a 30" width should be the minimum (or 24" the very least).
