Feeding bichirs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just a guess but i think that would be just as bad as the feeders. I'd think any pathogens the fish may be carrying would still be present in the fish

I would freeze those for a week prior to feeding, that should kill any potential parasites or pathogens.

Those are actually probably worse. There is almost no observations of their health. At least they somewhat watch over the ones in the pet store.

I definitely agree with the above. Freeze and treat them before feeding. That's the best way to prevent any diseases

Froze them a couple of hours after buying and washed a couple of times. Hopefully no bad stuff in them.

This is what I found after my last look over of my tank last night after fasting for 2 days to switch to pellet food. Not the outcome I was hoping for20160325_003349.jpg

Luckily this morning I actually found the pictus to be freely swimming around, no harm to the bichir, but will be removing him and moving him to my more placid 55 gal

Good thing they're separated. If the picture went in head first and over the fins....it's a pain to separate cause of their spines/barbs.

Takes the frozen feeders after a few sniffs. Only 2-3 per feed along with the gars. Removed my plecos and rocks, their crap is more than the other 4 added up. And got this for an upgrade
