ive fed chicken to my bass on a regular basis for well over 2 years now. never had water problems, desease problems, etc. I have found that feeding them smaller pieces rather than larger helps with digestions, and pieces spit out to the bottom.

this is of course part of a mixed diet, but if you are asking about any issues long term as part of a diet - i have not run into any - i clean my water once every 10-14 days (125g tank) - and the water quality has always been fine.
You have had cichla for 2 years living in a 125 gallon tank and the water quality is fine with water changes every 2 weeks? I HIGHLY doubt this.

You seem to be very much smarter than everybody else. You have NO way of knowing what his water conditions are. Maybe you could learn a few thing's from him. ;)

We all have more new info to learn. Nobody not even your self is all knowing.

Did you ever think he had kelberi's? or even orino's?

But you had cichla for a little over 1 1/2 months?

I've had cichla for a little over a year now and granted I don't know everything but I do know the basics, the needs, and a lot of info about cichla. And I highly doubt he has kelberis or orinos.
