I had a Pacu that loved finch/parakeet/cockatiel eggs. I've also fed them to growing Dovii, wolf fish and piranha. The question is- Can I use eggs as a protein stock base for frozen food? I'd also be adding greens and possibly insects I've just never heard of using it for frozen foods and wondered if there was a reason or issue I was unaware of.
I got eels, cichlids, catfish and a ghost knife.

Wow, never heard of that. IMHO you really don't need or have to feed Pacu eggs, why not just stick with dry food? Never had Wolf fish or Piranha, but I have had Cichlids and Pacu, never had or wanted to feed them eggs? But I would be curious to see what anyone else feeds their Pacus?

Mine get algae wafers exclusively. Anything else we used to throw in the tank (years ago) was for our entertainment. With stuff like whole carrots and potato slices, water quality suffers with food particles everywhere. While our mechanical filtration can remove food particles, I'd rather give them algae wafers which they inhale without chewing.

we were working at a pet store and throwing the eggs away is wasteful they really were his favorite snacks
he also had dry food, fresh greens and spirulina wafers

if you're curious what other people are feeding their Pacu's -why not start up a thread about it

my intention is as stated in the original post
can I use eggs as a protein base for my DIY frozen fish food? If it's a good/bad idea -Why?
anyone have an informed opinion on this?

indeed I would just be adding small amounts of the protein to the vegetable base 1 egg per 12 cubes
I was originally worried about contamination but the nasties in question just exist on the shell and not IN the actual egg. I often wondered why those bodybuilders who ate raw eggs everyday didn't get sick or die in appalling numbers from listeria and salmonella.
