Ok well my brother's girlfriend has had this house gecko for a few years and she has HATED the little thing.

I don't believe that the previous owner considered it a pet. The fact they didn't WANT to take it when they moved it makes this pretty clear.

I agree that it's not "cool" to feed a live animal in this case, to a predatory animal if not needed. But come on, read the whole post before going on assumptions that the house gecko was actually a pet. This just makes everyone of us look bad.

agreed but the fact that is wasn't technically a feeder, thats one is getting most people. its what got me onto this post.
I admit, I was a bit rude about mine, but I also let my animal loving side get the best of me. So I have to apologize for being immature about this. Its "not cool" but everyone has to realize that in the wild this does happen. But it doesn't make it right to do it in a habitat. That just makes it cruel.
Not EVERYONE stop fighting, its done, its over with.
There is NOTHING we can do about it now. The gecko is already digested and what not. Let it go!

what? lol

wat would happen

We would tell you to start your own thread.

No seriously. If you know that the Basillisk is very aggressive, you answered your own question, right?...

What was I thinking going to Daytona when I could have stayed home with this thread? Silly me.

The basilisk would likely eat the blue belly (we're talking blue belly swift, right? Spiny lizard, sceloporus?) You'd be risking parasite transfer from the swift to your basilisk...and if it didn't eat it, their requirements are pretty different, I don't see cohabbing them working.

Back on topic...this is an interesting debate I think. Personally, I'm against it, because I don't feed live unless absolutely necessary. But if you're OK with feeding live then I think it's hard to really kill the OP on this one. Small lizards are part of the boa's natural diet; feeding the gecko as part of a "varied diet" isn't so appalling. If anything my issue is with the original owner dumping the gecko on the OP.

I really hate the "it's bred to be a feeder" argument. When you go to the shop to pick up a "feeder" mouse or rat, and they stick it in that cute little carry box with the smiling kids holding the pocket pets on the side, and the "I've found a home!" on one side and "Somebody REALLY loves me!" on the other...well, then those pet/feeder lines blur. And yes, in case you wondered, I've been sold feeders in that very box.

my guess is it would destroy the blue belly is that probably be the case it would be cool to have other lizards with it but i dont know??

Exactly what else do you think could possibly happen? Honestly, just don't consider mixing any reptiles or amphibians. They just don't do well that way. Period. Now...back to thread.

Oh boy oh boy been moving for the past few days so I have not been keeping up on this. FIRST you guys sit there and make it sound like I tossed the gecko in and waited for my KSB to attack. Listen she didn't want it anymore asked me to take it I told her I was going to feed it to my KSB and she was fine with that. NO risk of parasites this lizard is totally clear and has been for a couple years now. You all act like just because this is a reptile and not a mouse it is the sickest thing you have ever seen???? I am sorry to break the news to you but people all over are using house geckos, anoles, bearded dragons, corn snakes, ball pythons, cute little bunnies and even baby goats for feeders...? Nothing wrong with that though? Get over it, its more natural for a KSB to eat a lizard then it ever would be to eat a mouse. IDK why everyone's panties are all up in a bunch? Look at the big picture kiddies! Sorry I posted a picture of a lizard being eaten and thought it was neat and not a mouse and was excited about it :screwy:. Its not people like me that make herpers look bad its people like you that argue the right of any animal when a true herper understands that essentially anything is fair game as a feeder in it's own sense.
