I have a somewhat newly aquired (about 2 months) Silver Arowana about 10". The LFS had been feeding rosy minnows and small comets only, so I was so proud of myself after getting him to readily accept Aro Sticks, and other pellets. After reading more, I want to try and vary his diet to ensure proper nutrition and health. So, I bought some raw shrimp, de-shelled them and cut them into manageable pieces. He won't even look at them. Thankfully, as they fall to the bottom they get immediately consumed by other residents. Any special technique on how to get him to take these? I tried moving the shrimp in front of him with my fingers and then letting it fall in front of him, and I tried putting it into the current of the powerhead so that it got circulated quickly around the tank (to appear alive). Neither worked. Is it just patience, with a little bit of starvation to encourage him to take it, or anything else I might try? Thanks!
