Thank you, I will do that. I think i might also be trying to feed it to often. I know that this type of fish dose not necessarily want to eat all the time like most of my other fish, but knowing it and understanding it don't always happen at the same time.

They only need to be fed every 2-3 days. So don't worry about him not eating everyday.

I also think that a vitamin soak in Selcon and/or Zoecon would be a very good idea.

I don't have any vitamin soak on hand but will source some soon. My eel would also benefit from it.

It will eventually. My lions have eaten more than any other fish I have ever owned.

He will eat to the point where his stomach is 3x larger than the top of his body.

He will eat till he has trouble breathing.

He will eat till he can barely swim on the bottom.

And this is even when I hand fed to try and good food to the other fish and keep it away from him.

When you get them started, they wont stop. Havent gotten him onto pellets, but he did take a shrimp pellet momentarily about a month ago before I left for LA.

Progress is slowly being made. It has now gone from freeze dried to frozen krill but still refuses everything else. I also got a less obtrusive clear feeding stick and that helped get the food closer.

Did you try the raw shrimp?

I have never had a fish that took krill refuse the shrimp.

In fact...I find that they usually take the shrimp better.

I will try the shrimp again in a couple of days. The last time I tried it the fish was too spooked by the feeding tongs to pay attention to the shrimp. Yesterday it ate frozen (thawed) krill but would not even look at a piece of silver side.

I was also thinking that having to cut up the shrimp and fish might be part of the problem. The lion is big enough to eat small krill hole, but everything else has to be cut into smaller pieces. Do you think maybe it just dose not recognize pieces of shrimp and fish as food yet?

On the plus side I get to see more of my small eel when trying to feed the lion. It will eventually come out of cover to get its share of the food and it eating makes the lion more interested in the food.

I always cut down my pieces...I think that scent and motion are more important that appearance.

Thank you to everyone for your help. I think my Lion feeding issues are over, for now. Not acting like a pig yet, but it did attack and eat cut up shrimp off the feeding stick today. So I don't think getting it to eat a varied diet is going to be a problem anymore. Now if I could just get my daughter to eat her vegetables........
