Lionfish are carnivores so they like meaty food. You could feed them bloodworms, mysis shrimp, ghost shrimp or even FW feeders for a treat once in a while.

To add... adding garlic to food is a good way to make it irresistable to stubborn fish

ok thanks. another question is do lionfish dislike too much flow as i have 3 powerheads in my tank amd they seem to sit on and behind rocks alot or is that just nerves as they ar newly added.

They don't like that much flow.

Also don't feed freshwater feeders. Bad for them and it will ruin any kind of frozen training you have. Best thing to do is buy massivore pellets and get them on those. Took two weeks to get mine on them, but I have eels, groupers, tangs, and lion fish all on pellets.

+1 for not feeding freshwater feeders. Lionfish can develop fatty livers very easily from that. Try feeding silversides, shrimp, and massivore. Variety is key as in nature they will eat almost anything that moves in a reef system. Dont keep anything small with them because it will end up as food.

Take a pice or the stiff plastic airline for under gravels crimp a toothpick in the end put a pice of krill on it and giggel it in front of him, And move it away from him.

That's how I get new lions at the.store to eat.

well i went and bought some frozen krill, lancefish and shrimp atm they are refusing to eat any of it.

Krill should only be feed occasionally as a treat as it has been show to cause lockjaw.

Give them time they are just settling in and may be unwilling to eat for a while, but fish can go up to 2 weeks without eating and they will be fine. Try not feeding them for a few days (3-4) and then soaking some food in vitamins and garlic extract for 15 mins or so then offer.

Lionfish can be hard to wean from live to frozen
