Feeding my fish worms and grubs from outside ok?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
most people would say not to do it because they could have bacteria or diseases. I personally think though its more like what they would eat in the wild so go for it. You may want to treat your fish for parasite and bacteria diseases once in a while to keep them healthy and to play it safe.

also you have to be 100% sure there have been no chemicals sprayed on the ground

I agree, that would be the same reason I would be deterred from doing so.

well ive been feeding my fish fishing worms from the store for the past month and my pike and grown and gotten bulky. I have parasite stuff but is it worth trying because it could be a huge money saver during the warmer months

how do you go about breeding your own worms do you just buy alot and stick them in dirt?

I too have always wondered this, do tell.

Buy a bunch of earth worms, put them in dirt and put vegetable matter in as necessary. Banana peels work great. Use a rubber maid bin. Make sure it's at least 2 x 2 x 2. A smaller one would work but you'll get more worms with more space. Leave them for a month ( keep adding vegetables) and take some out every now and then to feed to your fish.
