I was feeding my Brandti some smelt last nite, then i decided to walk over to my new Oscars tank and threw in a hunk of Smelt,he went nuts and devoured it.Is this ok??Could it harm my "O"?? :WHOA:

How does smelt look like when u buy it? I heard of it but never saw it. I use beefheart instead.

It comes in like a 2lb bag, they are usually small yellowish fish, thier heads are cut off and they are cleaned(guts removed and fins removed)my Brandti loves them and so does my Oscar, they are relatively cheap...3.99 for a 2 lb bag.

It's another fish so I can't see the harm in it

no problem just dont feed all the time give them a good quality chiclid pellet with vitamins as a main food i fed shrimp, krill ,salted cod, smelt, and on ocassion beef heart this is not recommened to often causes fat buildup in the liver try some frozen peas too some will devour em .

You ever fed your fish Lance fish ? i have fed mine loads of times and had no problems so i shouldn't imagain there'd be a problem with feeding smelt to your fish. Don't forget fish thrive on other fish in the wild.

sounds like it would be a lot safer than feeders. if the oscars like them and there are not additives or anything then I'd think it'd be ok. :)

I just bought some and fed it to my pbass and they love it. my perch and datnoid ate it too.
