Feeling gutted right now

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Someone left the light I have as a night light off so it was pitch black in the basement. When I turned on the light on to check on it Monday it freaked out again. Jumped only 3-5 times this time. Broke my overflow in this jumping freakout. Not as bad as the first time though. Got some pics as it is looking much better then it was. Though it was sitting on the bottom this morning.

Oh and I lost a 4" jardini aro today. No idea why. Just found it on the bottom of the tank. Have not had much time to watch it due to overtime but it could have just stopped eating as it was thin when I found it. I think I am going to take a break on new fish for a while. Time sucks for me right now, need ot but fish keeping is suffering from it.

You had a 4" jardini in the same tank? If so, that must have been stressful for the little guy. Looks like your silver is overall coming around and shows the hardiness.

looks like hes pulling through, my goldfish went ape**** after a heron plucked one out of the tub after my primitive cover fell off, and 9 goldfish going nuts in a 25G isnt fun for them and they didnt eat for 3 days, cant wait to get my 250G tub.

good luck with your aro man. i would love one but looks like they are quite the mission

A bigger tank would help this situation dearly.
But congrats on the save.

Bigger tank is coming. Just have to sort things out first. Pond and a 600gal is in order.

Deff coming around.

No the jar was in its own tank. My gar, achara cat and aro would have eaten it if it was together. The jar I never had a chance to watch it eat after I saw it take some pellets before. I just had time to put some in or have my daughter put some in. Never got to sit and watch it eat so I am thinking that it just stopped eating. It liked fillets also but with the big aro not eating I have not been doing much on fillets. Also I didn't have a chance to get to the store to pick up some prazi pro so it could have had parasites.

Thanks and yeah they need dedication.

Hope things get better for you, he looks like he's pulling through overall, bett once the bigger tank is set up he'll be thriving

A fully grown healhy aro is magnificent and im sure he will heal up quickly

Do you have any tips for power growing (gold) fish?

Thanks.

As to the goldfish? Clean water and quality food.

Still very jumpy and flighty. It has jumped a few more times since last updated. Still won't eat. I find it resting on the bottom every time I walk down to the basement. Most of the time it will just start to swim low while I am down there. Tonight when I was sitting on the sofa across from the tank for no apparent reason it jumped twice.

We had our baby girl now so that is one less thing on the pending plate. She is doing fantastic, I already had a goldfish tank made for her to get her into fish keeping. Just like my other kids.

Some pics from tonight

Update on this fish. Still not eating and spending most of its time on the bottom like the above pic. Shows no interest in foods at all. Color looks better and it does have some active swims now and again. It has had a couple more jumping fits and knocked the standpipe of my diy overflow off the other day. Left about 5" of water in the tank for about a day or a little more.. Still was being filtered through the sump but not much water for that time.

Still uncertain of this fishes future. Since it has been over a month and still holding about the same.
