Feeling gutted right now

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think its the most common way of aro acted after the freaked out ... it is still in state of stressed and shocked
give it more time to heal and it may take a while though

2 months + and still no feeding. It still seems all around "sedated". It has jumped a few random times in since the last update.

Can't help but feel I am going to come down to a dead aro one morning. Have even given thought to putting it down. Won't yet as it still has " weight" to burn up while waiting for it to start eating.

Dang im really sorry to hear that. Have you thought about maybe trying to put in some live feeders in there or anything else to stimulate a feeding response?

i'd try and set up an intex shallow pool, with netting across it; I suspect he won't get better in a 180, absolutely dwarfs the tank in that photo above

+1 maybe try anything that wriggles in a larger tank to get him to eat

Dropped in some left over minnows from fishing. It looked at those for a second or two then turned away. I've looked into the pool idea but I honestly don't think i have the room for one the way my basement is set up. My garage isn't insulated yet and we are still seeing 40-50f nights here. For the big tank build I'll have to move a few tanks, run the 220 plug in for the dryer over to move it, remove/change my water heater. Big list.... I am looking into some of the smaller or mid sized rectangle pools though.

Update

Just shy of 4 months and it finally ate tonight. Ate about half a fillet. So from the jumping it has come out with bad de in both eyes now, one eye had it before jumping fit. It also broke a barbel that appears to be coming back. Now that it is eating tonight is the first good sign for a long time. Hopefully it continues and makes a full come back. To get it to eat I have been trying to tap it's mouth with the fillets. Tonight it worked and it ate one. Then I dropped one and it took it off the bottom. It didn't even loose alot of weight like I was expending it to. To be honest I was expecting to go down to a dead aro one day.
