I'll probably be raising crayfish as his staple from 2-4" then he'll start getting meat on bone. Pieces of whole fish, larger crayfish, i'll even do a fast period and attempt to feed him nuts/seeds.

Mosquito larvae! They eat a lot of that in the wild as juvies! You can buy it in frozen cubes!

If i was raising him from fry then id definitely try the frozen mosquito larvae, but i think he's gotten past that part of his diet. He's having the time of his life chasing the convicts and shrimp lol.
He's definitely looking thicker than other rbp babies ive kept. We'll see what he looks like at 2-3". The wild cariba i got at 2" were very thick compared to the captive raised reds at the same size.

Growing pretty slow 
I still havent really fed him. He's just been chasing the convict fry which are getting bigger as well. Theres only a few ghost shrimp left. He's getting thicker than other reds i've raised. The biggest difference i've noticed though is the teeth. I've never had a 1" piranha with teeth that hung out.

I think pretty much all piranha are shoal fish. I've never seen footage of wild rhoms solo.
That being said, ive raised plenty of 'shoal' fish solo. Ime, solo raised piranhas are meaner and more outgoing.

Piranha and ATF are relatively closely related. Well, theyre both characins anyway. Im really hoping this grow out yields some nice results. If i can get this red to grow up and look wild, then im doing this with all my piranha from now on. Im bout to set up a small tank to start breeding crayfish for him to eat.
